Connecting telemetry, ERP and eQMS without a rip-and-replace
The data you need for a release decision usually already exists. It just lives in three systems that were never designed to talk to each other.
Three systems, three blind spots
Telemetry platforms know the temperature but not the batch, the order or the material status. ERP knows the batch and can block it, but has no readings. The eQMS holds the deviation and CAPA process, but depends on someone typing the facts into it.
Each vendor is right about its own domain. The gap is the decision that needs all three.
Start with the record, not the dashboard
The durable asset is one harmonised time-temperature record per batch, independent of which logger produced it. Dashboards can be rebuilt; a clean, attributable record cannot be reconstructed after the fact.
- Normalise units, time zones and sampling intervals on ingestion, and keep the raw payload.
- Key everything to batch and material, not to device serial numbers.
- Treat the stability limit as versioned reference data, not as a hard-coded threshold.
Keep it device-agnostic
Logger fleets change, through tenders, mergers, or a carrier that insists on its own hardware. If the decision logic is tied to one vendor's API, every change becomes a re-validation.
An adapter layer per source, with a single internal record format behind it, keeps the validated core stable while sources come and go.
Scope a proof of concept you can finish
A useful first scope is narrow on purpose: one product family, one lane, one logger type, one ERP block. That is usually enough to show the end-to-end path, reading in, rule applied, lot blocked, draft deviation produced, QA signature, without touching the whole landscape.
